"North by North" is the first NWICSA district regatta of the academic season which is hosted by University of Washington in Seattle. Saturday saw a great start to racing, with a puffy 8-12 kt southerly. The wind quickly built for B fleet's rotation. By 12:00 winds were gusting over 25kts at Sand Point and gusting over 35kts around the point. Many breakdowns and capsizes occurred and the race committee called off racing for the daywith 5 or more boats flipped at once.
Sunday saw an extremely shifty and puffy 3-12kt southerly. Close racing in A and B fleets left the winner unclear until the final race. Thanks to everyone for coming out to Seattle. And a special thanks to those who helped rescue boats during Saturday's carnage and Sail Sand Point for their continued devotion to northwest college sailing.
Our team sponsored 2 boats which placed 11th and 12th overall. For complete regatta results visit: http://collegesailing.org/nwicsa/results/Northnorth%202008%20RESULTS.txt
