First Regatta of the Season

"North by North" is the first NWICSA district regatta of the academic season which is hosted by University of Washington in Seattle. Saturday saw a great start to racing, with a puffy 8-12 kt southerly. The wind quickly built for B fleet's rotation. By 12:00 winds were gusting over 25kts at Sand Point and gusting over 35kts around the point. Many breakdowns and capsizes occurred and the race committee called off racing for the day
with 5 or more boats flipped at once.

Sunday saw an extremely shifty and puffy 3-12kt southerly. Close racing in A and B fleets left the winner unclear until the final race. Thanks to everyone for coming out to Seattle. And a special thanks to those who helped rescue boats during Saturday's carnage and Sail Sand Point for their continued devotion to northwest college sailing.

Our team sponsored 2 boats which placed 11th and 12th overall. For complete regatta results visit: http://collegesailing.org/nwicsa/results/Northnorth%202008%20RESULTS.txt
